Arron Eiben is an impulsive, hopeless romantic. Yu Sakuhara, though extremely open minded, is a cautious realist at heart. Two people from different worlds, whose chance meeting in New York City sets them on a course of love that will never be forgotten.

When Arron introduces himself to Yu at a party, he believes that he has finally met “the one”, only to discover a staggering obstacle. Yu is involved in a serious, long-term relationship. Hope, nevertheless, remains as Arron learns that the boyfriend resides in Japan.

Ever persistent, Arron convinces Yu to go out with him. In doing so, they develop an uncanny connection that is not easily broken. Through patience and care, Arron achieves his dream. Yu gives in to her feelings and the two come together as lovers, however, Arron’s fairy tale is short lived as Yu breaks the news that she must return to Japan indefinitely.

Without Yu, Arron’s world is empty and joyless. The Universe is constantly throwing reminders of his lost treasure in his path. Every bone in his body is calling for him to go after his distant love.

Finally, Arron gives in to the urge and hops a flight to Japan in the hope of rekindling that once bright flame. It is on this trip that Arron witnesses first hand what Yu’s life in Japan truly is and gains valuable perspective on their complicated situation. In the end Arron and Yu come to realize that, though they may not be meant to be together as lovers, they have shared an experience which can only be had once in a lifetime.
